In Development: NormalEyes

Making life easier for people dealing with the differently sighted.

Problem #1: Sighted people often rely on making eye contact during social interactions, and so may find it difficult to engage in comfortable interactions with blind people.
Problem #2: Blind people may find themselves treated in an unfavorable way due to their eyes often being closed or hidden behind sunglasses in situations where open eyes are the norm.
Product: NormalEyes is a set of goggles that simulates the appearance of open, alert, working eyes. Affixed (willingly!) to the face of a blind person, this device — about the size of a regulation Toblerone — encourages conventional interactions, as if both parties are sighted.
NormalEyes’ built-in screens can be tuned to display most reasonable skin tones and eye colors. Discrete sensors allow the eyes to focus on whichever person is speaking in a conversation, and are programmed to blink, wink, roll and wander at random.
Hurdle #1: Some members of the blind community have expressed displeasure at the NormalEyes name and concept. We are attempting to remedy this by placing the device in movies and prestige television series, and purchasing positive mentions in the lyrics of songs by popular artists (i.e. Katie Perry, Rusted Root, etc.).
Hurdle #2: When introduced to NormalEyes, test groups often mistake the purpose and function of the device, believing it will in some way improve the vision its wearer. This was initially regarded as a boon, but Tactics now believes this could lead to an increase in applications for returns and refunds no mater how watertight the user agreement.
Hurdle #3: Focus groups report moderate to severe disgust or “dystopian vibes” when introduced to NormalEyes.
